MythosEdit

Abhoth, the "Source of Uncleanliness", first appeared in The Seven Geases (Clark Ashton Smith, 1934). It is also mentioned in The Mind Parasites (Colin Wilson, 1967).

Abhoth is an Outer God that dwells beneath Mount Voormithadreth in the cavern of Y'quaa, and takes the form of a huge pool of amorphous grey slime covered with mouths and tentacles. It continuously spawns malformed creatures that resemble various disembodied limbs or organs, which attempt to grow and escape the parent bulk. However, most of them are pulled back into Abhoth and devoured. Abhoth can also communicate telepathically with those around itself.[1] It is similar to Ubbo-Sathla, and is sometimes proposed as an alternate aspect of that Outer God.[2]
