FictionEdit

The Story So FarEdit

Anderson took seven men with him into the Yucatán. Two came back—more or less. Technically, three men made it out of that jungle alive, but Mitch Brown's not exactly himself anymore. As a point of fact, he's a blithering madman now, and has already been shipped off to the asylum.

Leo couldn't read the tablets they found in those ruins—only Dr. Volk could, of the seven of them—but he's holding the good doctor's notes in his hand. The ones Volk took before he went mad. Before he killed two of Anderson's men.

Now Anderson's fresh off the boat and he's got word that Dr. Philips, the man who organized the Yucatán expedition in the first place, is dead. Philips is dead, and that leaves Anderson holding the scribblings of a murderous lunatic—scribblings with today's date circled in blood.[1]

Leo Anderson spends his life getting into the deadliest and most obscure corners of the globe, but there is a cost. Along the way, he's lost good people. Some succumbed to illness, others to the inhospitable clime, and some to things that will haunt Leo for the rest of his days. His most recent expedition ended in complete disaster. Mitch was the only one of his people to survive or at least remain human.
Leo is sick of burying the people who trusted him. But now that he knows what lurks in the forgotten reaches beyond civilization, he can't quit until the job is done.[2]

Leo Anderson has spent his whole life getting into the deadliest and most obscure corners of the globe. Along the way, he's lost good people. He often questions whether such academic pursuits have been worth the lives lost. His most recent expedition, an ill-fated voyage to Nan Madol to recover Olosopha's Almanac, ended in complete disaster. Mitch was the only one of his people to survive, or at the very least, to remain human. Leo is sick of burying people who trusted him. But now he knows these expeditions aren't purely academic in nature—and he won't quit until the job is done.[3]
